Translated Information Sheets - Reducing Perineal Tears
Translated versions of 'Reducing Third and Fourth Degree Perineal Tears Information Sheet' developed by WHA as part of the 'WHA National Collaborative - Reducing Rates of Third and Fourth Degree Perineal Tears' are now available below. The information sheets are available in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese Simplified, Indonesian, Mongolian, Nepali and English (see Resources section below).
The information sheet aims to encourage shared decision making, informing women about their risk of a tear and what can be done to reduce their chance of experiencing a third or fourth degree tear. This information is designed to be given to women at an antenatal appointment between 30-36 weeks. It has been developed by a consumer working group with medical and midwifery input.
WHA would like to acknowledge the South Eastern Sydney (SESLHD) Multicultural Health Service for funding the translations and the SESLHD Cross Cultural Workers and Cultural Support Workers for their review of content for cultural appropriateness and nuance. We would also like to acknowledge the Clinical Excellence Commission in partnering with WHA in delivering the Collaborative and developing these resources.
