We are very pleased to welcome you to the 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Paediatric Society of New Zealand. After a gap of ten years the meeting is returning to Christchurch, and for many of you it may your first visit to Christchurch since the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. It is a very different city now: new, bold and exciting. We are confident you will enjoy both the academic programme and the opportunity to see the evolving “new “Christchurch.
The theme of the meeting is Strengthening our Foundations. The theme relates to the clinical foundations of paediatric practice, our role as advocates for children and families and the professional foundations that underpin our interactions with colleagues and patients. The New Zealand Society of Paediatric Surgeons is participating in the meeting, and one of the attractions of the meeting is that there will be joint sessions on topics that have surgical implications. We have an extraordinarily strong infectious diseases component as well, and this will be a key focus. And if that is not enough, it the program includes the annual George Abbott symposium, organised by the Paediatric Department, University of Otago, Christchurch, and the Percy Pease Paediatric symposium.
If you are a child health professional, then Christchurch is the place to be from the 14th to the 16th November 2017. Here is your opportunity to engage, learn, and socialise with local and international colleagues - and leave with your practice much enhanced.
