Rethinking Term - Preterm Birth Prevention Initiative: Every Week Counts - 20 October 2021 at 12:30pm (AEDT)
Long held beliefs that 37 weeks is “term” and babies born at that gestational age babies are mature are now being challenged.
Over the past two decades there has been a consistent trend for babies to be born earlier due to a rise in planned early births.
This presentation will discuss the short, medium and long term implications of births prior to 39 weeks gestation and strategies for the safe prolongation of pregnancy.
Prof Jonathan Morris AM,
Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Sydney and a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, Deputy Chair of the Australian Preterm Birth Alliance and past Chair of Stillbirth Foundation Australia.
